Aadhaar is a unique 12-digit identification number issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) on behalf of the Government of India. It serves as a valid proof of identity and address across India. UAN (Universal Account Number) and EPF (Employee Provident Fund) play a crucial role in the retirement savings of Indian workers. Managed by the EPFO, UAN serves as a distinctive 12-digit code that simplifies the management of EPF accounts throughout an employee's working life. It is essential to link Aadhaar with UAN/EPF simplifies and secures provident fund transactions.
EPF is compulsory for most employees and employers in India. However, certain establishments with fewer than 20 employees can opt to register for EPF voluntarily. For employees in the EPF scheme, having a UAN is a must. Employers have to give UAN to their employees, and it stays with the employee as long as they work. This makes it easy to manage and use their EPF account smoothly.
Link Aadhaar card to EPF account online:
- Access the EPFO Website: Visit the official EPFO website by going to https://www.epfindia.gov.in/.
- Sign In to Your UAN Account: Log in using your Universal Account Number (UAN) and your password. If you haven't activated your UAN yet, you'll need to complete that step first.
- Navigate to the "Manage" Section: After successfully logging in, locate the "Manage" section in the top menu bar.
- Choose the "KYC" Option: From the dropdown menu within the "Manage" section, select "KYC."
- Input Aadhaar Information: On the KYC page, you'll find fields to enter your KYC details. Locate the "Aadhaar" section and provide your Aadhaar number along with your name as it appears on your Aadhaar card.
- Save and Submit Your Details: Once you've entered your Aadhaar information, click the "Save" button to store the provided details.
- Await Approval and Verification: Your employer will need to approve your Aadhaar linkage request. Subsequently, the EPFO will verify the information you've submitted.
- Confirmation Message: After the verification process is successfully completed, a confirmation message will be sent to your registered mobile number and email address.
- Review KYC Status: In due course, you can log in to your UAN account again and check the KYC status to confirm the successful linkage of your Aadhaar.
Link Aadhaar card to EPF account offline:
- Visit the EPFO Office: Find the nearest EPFO (Employees' Provident Fund Organization) office by accessing the official EPFO website, where you can obtain the office's address.
- Obtain the Aadhaar Linking Form: Request the Aadhaar linking form, typically designated as Form-2, at the EPFO office. This form is specifically designed for connecting your Aadhaar with your EPF account.
- Complete the Form: Carefully fill out the form, ensuring the accuracy of details provided. Be sure to include your EPF account number, Aadhaar number, and other required information accurately.
- Include Supporting Documents: Make photocopies of your Aadhaar card and self-attest them. Attach these copies to the Aadhaar linking form as necessary.
- Visit the EPFO Assistance Desk: Approach the assistance desk at the EPFO office. They will guide you through the process and assist with document verification.
- Submit the Form: Hand in the completed Aadhaar linking form along with the supporting documents to the EPFO assistance desk.
- Receive an Acknowledgment Receipt: Following the submission of your documents, you will receive an acknowledgment receipt. This receipt contains a unique reference number that allows you to monitor the status of your Aadhaar linking request.
- Verification and Employer Approval: The EPFO office will scrutinize the details provided and seek approval from your employer for the Aadhaar linkage.
- Confirmation Notification: Upon the successful completion of the verification process and approval from your employer, you will receive a confirmation message.
- Check KYC Status: After some time has passed, you can verify the KYC status by logging into your UAN (Universal Account Number) account on the official EPFO portal to confirm that your Aadhaar has been effectively linked.
Link Aadhaar card to EPF account using UMANG app:
- Download and Install the UMANG App: If you haven't done so already, download and install the UMANG app from your device's app store. It is available on both Android and iOS platforms.
- Register or Sign In: Launch the UMANG app and proceed to either register as a new user or log in if you already have an existing account.
- Locate EPFO Services: Within the app, use the search function or navigate through the list of services to find the section related to EPFO (Employee Provident Fund Organization).
- Choose "Aadhaar Seeding": Within the EPFO services section, locate and select the option for "Aadhaar Seeding" or a similar term.
- Enter EPF Information: Provide the required details related to your EPF account, including your Universal Account Number (UAN).
- Input Aadhaar Details: Enter your Aadhaar number and any other necessary information as prompted.
- Verify OTP (One-Time Password): Your registered mobile number, linked to your Aadhaar, will receive a One-Time Password (OTP). Enter this OTP to verify your identity.
- Submit and Confirm: After successfully verifying the OTP, proceed to submit your request for linking your Aadhaar to your EPF account.
- Confirmation Message: You will receive a confirmation message confirming the completion of linking your Aadhaar to your EPF account.
- Check KYC Status: To verify the successful linking of your Aadhaar, you can check the KYC (Know Your Customer) status either within the UMANG app or by logging into your UAN account on the official EPFO portal.
Link Aadhaar card to UAN:
- Access the EPFO Portal: Navigate to the official EPFO website at https://www.epfindia.gov.in.
- Login to Your UAN Account: Sign in by providing your UAN and password. Enter the captcha code displayed on the screen.
- Verify Your KYC Details: After logging in, visit the 'Manage' section and choose 'KYC' from the dropdown menu. Review whether your Aadhaar is already linked. If not, you'll need to input your Aadhaar details.
- Connect Aadhaar to UAN: Click on 'Aadhaar' and enter your Aadhaar number along with the name as stated on your Aadhaar card. Validate the details entered and submit the request.
- Approval and Verification: Your employer will need to approve the Aadhaar linkage request, and afterward, the EPFO will verify the provided information.
- Confirmation: Once the verification process is complete, you will receive a confirmation message via your registered mobile number and email address.
- Verify KYC Status: After some time, you can log in to your UAN account and review the KYC status to confirm that your Aadhaar has been successfully linked.
Note: The deadline for Aadhaar linking with UAN and PF was December 31, 2021. As a result, the ability to link Aadhaar with UAN and PF is no longer accessible through the EPFO portal, Umang App, or at the EPFO office.
Link Aadhaar card to UAN if last date has passed:
- Check for any updated information: Visit the official EPFO website or monitor notifications from the EPFO or government authorities to determine if there have been any recent updates or extensions concerning the deadline for linking Aadhaar with your UAN.
- Contact EPFO: In case the deadline has already passed and you haven't linked your Aadhaar, reach out to the EPFO through their official helpline or customer support channels. They can offer guidance on the necessary steps to follow or inform you if any relaxation or extension has been granted.
- Visit the nearest EPFO office: If required, make a personal visit to the nearest EPFO office and explain your situation. They will be able to provide guidance on the actions to take or offer any necessary assistance.
- Be aware of potential penalties: Understand that there could be penalties or consequences for not linking your Aadhaar with your UAN within the specified timeframe. The EPFO may have established specific rules and guidelines in this regard, so it's essential to grasp the implications.
- Prepare your documents: When you initiate the process, ensure you have your Aadhaar card and UAN details readily accessible. You might also require additional documents for verification purposes.
Check status of Aadhaar card link to UAN:
- Access the EPFO Official Website: Navigate to the Employees' Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) official website by visiting https://www.epfindia.gov.in/.
- Sign In to Your UAN Account: Log in to your Universal Account Number (UAN) account on the EPFO portal. If you haven't registered or activated your UAN, you will need to complete this step first. Ensure that you have your UAN and password ready.
- Navigate to the KYC Section: After logging in, proceed to the "Manage" section available on the portal.
- Verify KYC Status: Within the "Manage" section, locate the option labeled as "KYC" or "View KYC." Click on this option to access the status of your KYC documents.
- Check Aadhaar Status: Inside the KYC section, you will find the status of various KYC documents, including Aadhaar. If your Aadhaar is linked to your PF account, it should be displayed as "Approved" or "Verified."
- Confirmation of Linkage: If your Aadhaar status is listed as "Approved" or "Verified," this indicates that your Aadhaar number is successfully linked to your PF account. In case it's not linked or displayed as "Pending," you may need to follow the Aadhaar linking process mentioned in previous responses or reach out to your employer or the EPFO office for further assistance.
Forgot UAN password:
- Visit the EPFO Member Portal: Go to the official EPFO member portal at https://unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in/memberinterface/.
- Select "Forgot Password": On the login page, choose the "Forgot Password" option located just below the password entry field.
- Provide Your UAN: On the following screen, you'll be prompted to input your UAN. Enter your correct UAN along with the captcha code displayed on the screen. Then, click the "Submit" button.
- Receive OTP (One-Time Password): An OTP (One-Time Password) will be dispatched to your registered mobile number linked to your UAN. Ensure that your mobile phone is accessible and ready to receive the OTP.
- Enter OTP and Set a New Password: Enter the OTP you received on your mobile phone in the designated field on the screen. Subsequently, you will be guided to create a new password. Enter your chosen new password and confirm it.
- Submit the New Password: Once you've entered and confirmed your new password, click the "Submit" button to initiate the process of resetting your UAN password.
- Confirmation of Password Reset: You should receive a confirmation message indicating that your password has been successfully reset.
- Log In with Your New Password: Return to the login page and access your account using your UAN and the newly established password.
