  • The central government has declared a monetary coverage for death insurance of ₹2,00,000 for each registered unorganized labour worker on the e-Shram Portal.
  • A financial aid of ₹1,00,000 in case of partial handicap of the registered labour worker.
  • If a beneficiary (labour worker in an unorganized sector with an e-Shram labour card) dies due to a mishap, the spouse will get all the benefits.
  • Beneficiaries will receive a 12-digit UAN number which will be valid throughout India.
  • Once the unorganized labour workers register themselves on the e-Shram portal, they are not required to register separately for the social security schemes launched by the government.
  • e-Shram portal will also help to keep a track record of the migrant labour workforce and will pave a path for more job opportunities.

Various schemes under e-Shram portal

  1. Social Security Welfare Scheme: The Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maandhan Yojana provides a minimum pension of ₹3,000 to beneficiaries after the age of 60. If the beneficiary passes away, 50% of the pension is given to the spouse. Premium payments ranging from ₹55 to ₹200 are required to avail the benefits, with the beneficiary contributing 50% and the Central Government contributing the remaining 50%.
  2. National Pension Scheme for Shopkeepers, Traders, and Self-Employed Persons: This scheme offers a minimum pension of ₹3,000 to beneficiaries after the age of 60. Premium payments ranging from ₹55 to ₹200 are required, with the beneficiary contributing 50% and the central government bearing the other 50%.
  3. Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana: Implemented by the Department of Financial Services, this scheme provides a benefit of ₹2,00,000 to the nominee in case of the beneficiary's death due to any reason.
  4. Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana: Under this scheme, in the event of the beneficiary's death or complete disability, ₹2,00,000 is provided to the nominee, and ₹1,00,000 is provided for partial disability due to an accident.
  5. Atal Pension Yojana: This scheme provides a pension ranging from ₹1,000 to ₹5,000 to beneficiaries, with a lump sum amount given to the spouse after the beneficiary's demise.
  6. Public Distribution System (PDS): For families living below the poverty line, the beneficiaries receive 35 kg of rice or wheat per month, and families living above the poverty line receive 15 kg of food items.
  7. Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin: Financial assistance of ₹1.2 lakh in plain areas and ₹1.3 lakh in hilly areas is provided for the construction of houses.
  8. National Social Assistance Program: This pension scheme requires a monthly premium payment of ₹300 to ₹500, and beneficiaries receive a pension ranging from ₹1,000 to ₹3,000.
  9. Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana: This scheme offers health insurance coverage up to ₹5,00,000 to families without any premium payment.
  10. Health Insurance Scheme for Weavers: Weavers receive health insurance coverage through this scheme.
  11. National Safai Karamchari Finance and Development Corporation: Financial assistance is provided to Safai Karamcharis through this scheme.
